Round 21 of the QSL comes to an end on Friday with three important games involving sides who are fighting for survival in the QSL.
The first match of the day will see the spotlight match of the round, when the bottom two sides of the QSL take on each other. Al Wakrah will take on Al Shahania, with both sides in desperate need of points. Kais Yâakoubi’s Wakrah side hasn’t tasted victory in eight QSL matches, and will be targeting all three points to haul themselves on level points with the two promoted sides just above them.
Whilst for Al Shahania they have become hard to beat under their Croatian coach and eight draws in the league so far certainly underlines that point. Heading into the final games of the season, Shahania are in desperate need of wins to ensure survival and will see this game as a must win.
The second game of the day will see two sides in simialar form take on each other. Al Gharafa welcome Al Khor to Gharafa stadium, with both sides only picking up a win each in their last five QSL games. Gharafa coach Pedro Caixina will be looking for a moral boosting win to get his side back on the right track. As for Al Khor, they are very much in a relegation dog fight, and Jean Fernandez will be looking to cause an upset against the Cheetahs.
The QSL weekend comes to an end when Al Ahli take on relegation threatened Al Sailiya. Ahli come into the tie off the back of an uninspiring 1-1 draw with Umm Salal last time out. Whilst Al Sailiya, who have invested heavily in January picked up a defeat to relegation rivals Al Kharaitiyat. Sami Trabelsi’s side certainly need to pick up some wins to ensure safety of another season.
