AL SAILIYA have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Marcio Tavares from Lekhwiya.

The defender has signed for the struggling QSL side until the end of the season as they look to rescue what has been a disappointing campaign so far.

The administration of Sailiya have turned to Tavares as an alternative to Tunisian star Khaled al-Qirbi. He has signed until the end of the season in as the club try to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, reports suggest former Lekhwiya and Qatar first team coach Abdullah Mubarak is in the running to replace Maher Kanzari. The Tunisian manager resigned on Tuesday after leading his side to just one win all season.
